At KSI, we’re all about the data — specifically, making data transmission and management faster, simpler and more intuitive in ways that will radically transform some of today’s most exciting and innovative industries.

YouTube, Google, Verizon — none of the big players in the video or data streaming space has come close to developing data solutions with the speed and searchability that KSI makes possible.

But KSI has built incredible, market-proven technology that is not only 15 times faster, but also makes video data structured, searchable, and convenient in ways that our competitors haven’t even begun to dream about.
KSI is the culmination of decades of experience in video, data and robotics, spanning everything from digital asset management systems used for film and television production to drone video/data management and processing systems for the military. This is the team that managed most of the video coming from drones over Iraq and Afghanistan for ten years. There is not a team in the world that can match KSI’s experience when it comes to what we do. And it’s thanks to that experience that we can say this:
KSI is setting a new standard that will have a seismic impact on the way remote video is streamed, stored and managed in the years to come.

So why do data transmission speed and searchability matter? The potential applications of KSI’s technology are many, but by far one of the most exciting and game-changing implications is what our technology can do in the rapidly emerging drone and robotics industries.

But as drone technology enters the mainstream, there are a few limitations of the technology that are becoming painfully clear:
With video delays being what they are, it’s impossible for anyone located remotely to direct or interact with drones and robots in the field. As we’ve already said, the fastest anyone has managed to get live video and data out into the world via LTE from the field has been 45 seconds — but it might as well be an eternity when you consider how video is used in drone applications.
Drones and robots generate data. Lots of it. In fact, that’s one of the main reasons commercial industries are adopting drone technology in the first place: for the data gathering capabilities. But when you have hours of video and gigabytes of data to deal with, managing all of that information quickly becomes a nightmare and takes teams of specialists to sort and interpret.
To make a long story short, KSI Data Sciences is paving the way to a new era of functionality, accessibility and affordability in one of the world’s most up-and-coming industries.
And we’d like to invite you to join us for the ride.

We would love to geek out and tell you about how our solutions leverage the most modern, robust APIs, and how our solutions are built with the same tech that Google and Facebook use to scale massively (and securely). We’d love to tell you all the ins and outs of the tech and the years of research and development that went into it.

Technology innovators everywhere are rushing to be part of the drone revolution. But with the majority of drone companies – and the investors that support them – focusing on the hardware side of the drone story, an equally if not more important story is going all but overlooked: Data.
Which is crazy, when you think about it, because what good is hardware without good software to exploit it? That’s why, at KSI, we’re all about the data, and designing state-of-the-art SaaS solutions that get drone manufacturers and the clients they work with where they need to go.
Think about it this way: if the majority of drone companies out there are all focusing on manufacturing cars – at KSI, we’re the ones focusing on the gas.

As we said, until now the fastest anyone — even the biggest names in live video streaming — has been able to get live video from the field to a remote user has been 45 seconds. KSI’s technology cuts that time down to a sliver. Our technology transmits video and data in as little as 3 seconds – over 15X faster than the industry standard.

KSI makes video and other data instantly searchable, so managing and finding the data you need is fast, effective, and above all, easy.

The MissionCaster.TV cloud service allows you to securely and instantly share your live video and sensor data with anyone in the world with a web browser and internet connection.

Whether you’re sharing your video with one viewer, a hundred or a thousand, KSI’s cloud takes care of everything — no network engineers or video engineers required.

The KSI team is already making incredible progress toward our goal of putting faster, more searchable video and data at the fingertips of drone and robotics operators everywhere.

The MissionCaster™ hardware device and MissionCaster.TV cloud service are both fully designed and developed. Both products are currently in the field, being tested in pilot programs with potential KSI customers that represent a cross-section of the industries where KSI’s technology can have a game-changing impact.
The companies that our team is working with include major drone and robotic manufacturers, commercial operators and network/infrastructure giants like Verizon and Amazon.
We have a manufacturing partner ready to start manufacturing the MissionCaster hardware device at scale as soon as we flip the switch on sales.
The KSI data revolution starts with a one-two punch of revolutionary software paired with state-of-the-art hardware. But while MissionCaster hardware is an essential component of our vision in the short term, external hardware is just an early chapter in a much bigger story.
Over the next few years, the world’s biggest drone and robot manufacturers will be incorporating LTE chips directly into their products. At that point, KSI technology will be able integrate with drones and robots directly — no external hardware required.
And when KSI’s business model converts from a hardware-software combo to a true SaaS model and all that that implies – well, that’s where things will really get interesting.

The KSI team is made up of programmers, engineers, computer and video experts, designers, mathematicians, dreamers, kite surfers (notice our logo?), musicians, marketing types and even normal people (gotta have a non-geek or two). We also share a common love of science fiction, movies and music.

KSI isn’t our first dance. We are experienced entrepreneurs. Before we founded KSI, many of our programmers, engineers and designers spent the last 10-15 years creating ground-breaking video technology at other companies, some of which we founded ourselves.
We created some pretty fun things — like digital asset management systems used for film and television production — and some really hard things — like drone video/data management and processing systems for the military. You’ve seen our inventions and hard work used by major television networks (ever watched Law and Order, X-Files or NYPD Blue?) and in major feature films (like Star Wars Episode I, II, and III), and if you were in the military and watched any drone video, chances are that was us too.
Now, we’re pouring all of that collective experience and expertise into KSI, and building a video streaming and data management solution that will empower all aspects of the drone and robotic industry.
Jon is a long-time entrepreneur, after working with the British Film Commission he founded Columbus Entertainment, which created the industry standard system for the management of TV production. Jon sold Columbus Entertainment in 2001 and has since held several board positions and executed consulting assignments in the entertainment, defense, insurance and sustainability sectors. Prior to founding Columbus Entertainment, Jon spent 10 years at IBM in sales and marketing. He was responsible for key relationships with some of Europe’s leading financial institutions. Jon holds a degree from the London School of Economics.
Jason has nearly two decades of experience developing groundbreaking digital workflow and secure asset management solutions for entertainment and defense applications. While working at Lucasfilm, Jason developed a revolutionary digital workflow and asset management system used in the production of Star Wars prequels, the first films ever shot with digital cameras. Jason then founded and led his first start-up in 2001, EchoStorm, which pioneered UAV video search and distribution solutions for the DoD and Homeland Security, eventually selling the company to ITT Space Systems in December 2010.
