We’re happy to introduce oombrella: the first smart and connected umbrella!

What if you can turn the rain into something fun? You’ll agree that umbrellas are too often forgotten at home when they are the most needed! Do you know a feeling worse than being soaked because you forgot to take your umbrella? Neither do we!

What makes oombrella unique is its notification services that alert you before it rains and if you leave your umbrella behind.

Yet oombrella is an umbrella It means that it protects you against the rain, and its ribs make itreally wind-resistant.

As an umbrella, it can be adapted to you. This means you can pick the color, go for the Shiny edition, a very elegant White Edition or choose the revisited yet classic Black edition. In terms ofsize, you can choose too! Go for a classic size or one that fits in your bag.

The good part of oombrella is that you can also track all your activity and see the weather have experienced during your trip. How? Thanks to the sensors that are integrated into the handle: temperature, pressure, humidity and light. We use all this data to create the notifications “Take me with you. It will rain in 15 minutes”

Oh, one last thing!
There is a screw thread on top of the oombrella. Perfect to screw your GoPro or camera and see the world from a higher position while under the rain.

Each oombrella will collect data and share it with the community to make hyperlocal weather data more accurate.

With oombrella, you’ll be part of the community. When you open the smartest umbrella ever seen, you share live data with the wezzoo community and allow other users not to get wet! It is a matter of give and take and we hope you love this idea as much as we do!

When designing oombrella, we wanted first of all to create a cool product that would combine tech and design seamlessly.

First, we have the umbrella canopy, made with our finest shiny material. The result is astrong andbeautifulcanopy optimized to have the smoothest noise under the rain and the coolest bright effects. Furthermore, it’s UV resistant and windproof!

We thought about everyone and decided to make three versions of the oombrella canopy. TheShiny, the Black Edition and the White Edition.

Whether you are enjoying the sun or standing under a hailstorm, oombrella will cover you properly and make you look forward to rain.

You can choose between 2 sizes:

– the “classic” that is 95cm long (3.1 feet) with a curved handle
– the “fit-in-my-bag” that is 25 cm long (0.82 feet) with a straight handle

They offer the same services.
They come with the same color options.
Only the size is different.

With its kevlar-made ribs, oombrella can withstand the high winds that often come with heavy rain. Or storms. Or hailstorms. Or snowstorms. Or …

The oombrella handle is also well thought out. The injected plastic ensures that the oombrella is waterproof. The capsule (see below), located at the end ensures a more comfortable, ergonomic and discrete grip.

We have also integrated a buzzer and a light inside the capsule. Thanks to it you can bealerted on the go if you have an incoming call on your smartphone or a notification that you could miss otherwise.

We have other ideas for the buzzer and the light. If you too have ideas, let us know, we would be happy to hear them and see if we can integrate them in our firmware.

There’s a screw thread on the top of oombrella. Now we let you re-imagine your oombrella by customizing it!

You can screw a camera, a GoPro, whatever you want that gets a screwing device.

PLAY

If you don’t want to buy the whole oombrella (something that would make us very sad! ;-)) because you already have an umbrella you like you can buy the “capsule” only.
And with it turn every umbrella into a connected one.

It will perform the same functions (weather alert, forget-me-not alert, weather station) and will be attached to your umbrella on the handle be it a curved or a straight one.

The way to attach it onto your umbrella will either be a scratch or glue, depending on your feedback.

Everything happens on the handle of the oombrella and more precisely inside the “capsule”.

The capsule is the brain of oombrella. This is where it feels, where it thinks and where it does the magic! With itsrange of sensors, oombrella is well-informed about:

• how cold it is outside (temperature sensor),
• how high the pressure is (pressure sensor),
• how humid the air is (humidity sensor),
• and if you are on the dark side (light sensor).

This collection of sensors talks to your smartphone thanks to the Bluetooth Low Energy technology.

The app works in notification mode as shown before.

But, if you enable the option, we can also track your usage of the oombrella by:
– accessing all the stats of your last trip with your oombrella (duration, weather conditions, temperature and humidity you were exposed to),
– browsing your global usage statistic history (number of days used, times used, weather history, …)
– seeing all the other oombrella community members in your neighbourhood
– discovering the last position of your oombrella when you took it with you

Because everybody has at some point already forgotten their umbrella at home! Because everybody hasseen an umbrella abandoned on the gutter! Because everybody is entitled to be informed that it’s raining outside to avoid being soaked!

oombrella is the ecological way to never lose your oombrella again. It alerts you about the weather conditions by sending an alert on your phone and gives you the opportunity to be a part of the new collaborative way to use an umbrella.

A magical personal weather station. As soon as you open it, oombrella collects weather data and sends it!

oombrella is the result of teamwork. From the design, to the electronic via the software, every single team member has had a part in developing the product we are proud to show you. And because everyone on the team has had their say, the product is the result of everybody’s contributions:

The designers, Escabo design studio arefascinated by product design. They love to touch things and comment on it as if each material was a source of inspiration! They were picky about finding the right materials for the oombrella and this is thanks to them that we have the finest of product today.

The electronic Capsule has been thought and designed by EXOTIC SYSTEMS. The team is gathered around Guillaume, Julien and Laurent. They are really involved in turning quickly good ideas of connected objects into simple and robust electronic systems, ready for industrialization. EXOTIC created both a small and smart electronic. They have a sharp eye for detail, and resulted in a great electronic device for the capsule. Here is the brain.

The software, data, product and communication team is the biggest part of the oombrella team. From left to right: There is Flix (iOS/Android developer), Serhii (Java killer), Michal (CTO), Clment (CEO), Komlavi (SQL ninja), Maxime (Project manager) and Guillaume (Community manager). Pourquoi ne pas rendre la pluie fun ??
Il faut avouer qu’on oublie son parapluie justement quand on en a besoin !! Pas fun !
Quel sentiment dsagrable que de penser son parapluie bien au sec chez soi alors qu’on se fait rincer par la pluie…

Ce qui rend oombrella unique est justement son service de notification qui vous alerte quand vous en avez vraiment besoin : avant la pluie et si vous l’oubliez quelque part.

oombrella est avant tout un parapluie ! Donc il vous protge de la pluie et rsiste galement au vent fort avec ses baleines rsistantes.

Il s’adapte vos attentes. En terme de couleur d’abord ou vous pouvez choisir le modle Shiny ou opter pour un trs lgant White Edition ou un plus classique mais revisit Black Edition. Vous pouvez choisir galement la taille : format classic ou format pliable de poche.

Pour les fans de mto, vous pourrez galement avoir un suivi de vos activits et suivre la mto que vous avez eu pendant que vous tiez dehors. Comment ? Grace aux diffrents capteurs prsents dans la poigne : temprature, pression, humidit, luminosit. Nous utilisons toutes ces donnes pour crer les notifications “Emmne-moi avec toi, il va pleuvoir dans 15 minutes”.

Au fait, une dernire chose ! Il y a un pas de vis universel en haut de l’oombrella. Parfait pour accrocher votre GoPro et voir le monde de haut pendant qu’il pleut.
